My Wedding, My Day, My Story – Jessica’s wedding at Alrewas Hayes

Jessica Page, a newly married bride shares her day with us:

8am – The start of the best day of my life

An hour before the alarm goes off I wake up with my bridesmaids to a fit of giggles, coughs (a long story) and butterflies knowing this will be the best and first day of day of the rest of my life – the day I get married and becomes Mrs Page.

10am – Beauty and bubbles in the Bridal Suite

We got to Alrewas Hayes just after 9 and went straight to the lakeside marquee and took a sneaky peek of the of the venue being decorated and was immediately wowed. Excitement and nerves were kicking in which were immediately calmed by a glass of bubbly in the Bridal Suite where I spent most of the morning having my hair and beauty done alongside my mum and bridesmaids.

2pm – It’s time to say ‘I do’

I met my dad just before 2pm and could see his sense of pride. Walking down the aisle in The Gallery, I realised how poignant being ‘given away’ actually was.

Just thirty minutes later, our wedding ceremony was over, the registrar says ‘you may kiss the bride’ and we become ‘Mr and Mrs’ surrounded by our closest family and friends – the perfect wedding.

3pm – Picture perfect canapes and cocktails

After waking my little boy who happened to sleep through the ceremony, it was time for a couple of photographs in The Courtyard Garden followed by lots of conversations, cocktails and canapes.

4pm – Laughter in the Lakeside Marquee

Our day was only just starting as we headed into the beautiful Lakeside Marquee for speeches. After an hour or so (which seemed like minutes) everyone (including myself) was both in laughter and in tears – the perfect appetiser for a hearty wedding meal.

5.30pm – The Wedding Breakfast begins…or should that be supper?

Seated beside my new husband overlooking the beautiful lake, our chosen dinner of Pan Fried Chicken arrives accompanied by our very own wines. After our meal, we snuck off for some additional, romantic photographs – set in the Hall and the Gallery at Dusk – which are now my favourites!

7pm – Let’s get the party started

And relax! Seventy more friends and family arrived just after 7.30pm and that’s when the real party started. Our beautifully decorated marquee came alive with our very own playlist and the venue’s changeable lighting set the mood for the evening.

8pm – Cutting the moves (and the cake) on the dancefloor

After greeting more guests, it was time cut the cake and hit the dance floor. I fondly think back to our wedding day when I hear the song on the radio to Our ‘first dance’ as man and wife.

9pm – Shake your tail feather

Just after 9pm, our favourite soul band came on and got everyone up dancing.  The pretty big dance floor was packed and we had the time of our lives – literally.

12 midnight – Time for a nightcap

After a few last drinks at the bar, we headed off to the Honeymoon Suite, kicked off our shoes and had a long, relaxing, soothing bath in the stunning, stand alone slipper bath and chatted about our amazing day and how we’d do it all over again if we could!
